GYLA – Germantown Youth Lacrosse

Germantown Youth Lacrosse is coming up on it’s first year anniversary this Spring of 2009. With over 100 students registered through the program in it’s first year. It is one of the fastest growing youth lacrosse programs in the state of Maryland. Germantown youth lacrosse program was founded by Coach Kevin Piroozmand AKA Coach P. Former Seneca Valley high school Girls head lacrosse coach, Former Damascus high school Boys head lacrosse coach and current 2009 Boys head lacrosse coach at St. Andrew’s Episcopal school in Potomac Maryland.

Coach P’s career started back in 2001 when his former high school coach (Ed Kostolansky ) gave him the opportunity to work a Summer job coaching little league lacrosse. “ My goal is to give kids the opportunity to create opportunities for themselves. I believe it is key to open doors for them, allowing them to find something that they can succeed in”, said Coach Piroozmand. Coach P. is also well known for the Upper 90 Lacrosse program that he and partner Phil Gash started in 2006 www.upper90lax.com . “I cant believe it’s been three years already, We have a long ways to go until we really put Montgomery County lacrosse on the map”. “I love winning, I'm very competitive. I believe that losing does teach a lot”. “My first year as a head coach I did a lot of losing”. “My second year as a coach, varsity was 10-5 and JV was 10-0 at Damascus”. “ That felt really good. My favorite moment was after the Clarksburg V.S Damascus playoff game. Coach Kostolansky and I spoke for about a half hour after the game. His last words to me were “your doing all the right things here, I am very proud . Just keep coaching and don’t ever stop”. “That felt great”, said coach P.

GYLA provides your son or daughter with a chance to begin lacrosse at an early age. We accept beginners, intermediate, and advanced players from ages 6-14.

GYLA will split kids up depending on age group and gender. Age groups are 6-8 Co-ed scoopers, ages 9-10.11-12,13-14 will be split into those groups based upon age and Gender. Those ages will not be co-ed. We will make sure that the age group your son or daughter is placed in will fit them best.

GYLA is here to teach your son and daughter the basic fundamentals of lacrosse.
